2016 was a year of firsts for St Vincent De Paul and their Queensland events. As a collective, They topped the million dollar fundraising mark for the first time in the CEO Sleepout’s seven year history.
CEO of St Vincent De Paul (Qld), Peter Maher, thanked local business leaders for their efforts in raising an impressive $1,227,403 to help fight homeless across the state. " .... along with your supporters, [you] have made a real difference in the lives of those who are at risk or are experiencing the extreme desperation and isolation of being homeless. I am extremely humbled by your dedication to what is an epidemic in Australia", he said.
The event’s continued success and the support of local business owners this year means the event is certain to enjoy a long life ahead. In particular, it's thanks to Gold Coast CEOs on their marvellous efforts in what was the City's inaugural CEO Sleepout event.
Not only has Queensland hit their goal of $1million, it's also the second highest fundraising state, beaten only by NSW.
"The Vinnies NSW CEO has his eye on us and nothing would give me greater pleasure than knocking them out of the top spot for 2017", Mr Maher beemed. "With that in mind, I remind you that registrations for 2017 are currently open on our website."
